Our event for dementia carers and families addresses practical matters such as accessing care support, managing a loved one’s stress or distress, and considering moving to care support. Additionally, the event will discuss emotional concerns, including feelings of guilt, loneliness, and isolation. You will gain expert advice and learn new techniques on how to deal with your loved one living with dementia and know how to understand and communicate more effectively.

You are not alone looking after someone with dementia.  By attending this event you’ll get the opportunity to understand more about dementia, engage with others facing similar circumstances, as well as practical advice and tips on the experience and challenges encountered by families and carers of individuals living with dementia.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed and neglect yourself when you are looking after someone with dementia. Self-care is essential for several reasons:

  1. Taking breaks and building resilience can improve the quality of care you provide
  2. You are a person too and worthy of care, consideration, respect and compassion.
  3. Taking time off is permissible. The needs of family members or carers are equally important as those of the person receiving care.

So come along to the event and find out how you can be supported by understanding your needs and the needs of a loved one living with dementia.
