Lady Captain Jeanette Venables at the Castle Hawk Golf Club in Castleton, Rochdale selected The Willows Dementia Hub as her chosen charity for 2024/25.
Jeanette and her fellow golf club members have put together their clubs to promote and raise money through a range of sponsored events including a mega 72-hole big golf race day challenge to a Christmas Raffle and a Santa Dash.
The Big Golf Race isn’t your typical round on the course—it’s a big day out where every swing makes a real difference. The 72-hole challenge takes skill, stamina and determination and by undergoing such a challenge it is helping to drive crucial support for those living with dementia and their families. It’s their talent and willpower that helps us go the distance and help change the game for dementia sufferers and their families.
Janette and three keen lady golfers took on a marathon of a challenge by planning on doing 72 holes in one day! This is an epic four rounds of golf for which they needed all the daylight they could get to take part in this challenge and to raise money for The Willows Dementia Hub.
Starting early in the morning Janette and the three lady golfers took up the challenge right through the day until evening and the light was about to fade, but they played with gusto, kept their spirits high and managed to complete the course with time to spare.
Until we reach our goal and give support to all those living with dementia in Rochdale every golf course session will raise awareness at the Castle Hall Golf Club of one of the most common debilitating diseases in the country. Every swing and round will inspire conversations and encourage donations.
In December, several golfers took to the green again, but this time dressed us as Santa Clause to run, jog, walk or hop on their sleigh to do a festive dash whilst still playing rounds of golf helping to paint the course red and white and christmassy. Well done to all those that took part in this Santa ‘golf’ Dash in Rochdale and all did a great job in completing the course.
Also, a charity raffle run by the Castle Hawk Golf Club took place raising additional essential funds for the Willows Dementia Hub in Rochdale and in total across all their fabulous activities they raised a whopping £3,555.00.
A big thank you to Lady Captain Jeanette Venables and all those wonderful people at Castle Hawk Golf Club that took part and raised such an amazing amount.
All the money will go directly to the Willows Dementia Hub and be spent on service user care. Thank you!
